Thousands of teachers, social workers, union members and more took to the streets in New York City on Thursday, to protest wide ranging budget cuts and calling for a reinstatement of the state’s “Millionaire Tax”.
The protesters are calling on Mayor Michael Bloomberg to “make the banks pay” and blamed Wall Street banksters for the city’s financial and budget crisis.
United Federation of Teachers (UFT) members face more than 4,000 teacher cuts if Bloomberg’s budget is implemented.
