A St. Cloud woman was killed on the Florida Turnpike earlier today, after she was ejected from her vehicle when a tire flew off.
51-year-old Angela Lay, died on the spot just south of I-4, in Orange County, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said.
Troopers said, the 1999 GNC SUV was heading south on the Turnpike just before noon on Tuesday, when one of the tires separated from the vehicle.
The driver who drove onto the right shoulder, over-corrected and the vehicle overturned a couple of times, catching fire.
Angela was ejected and died on the scene.
Two truckers pulled 21-year-old Jessica N. Lay and an 8-month-old baby who was in a car seat, from the burning vehicle.
Jessica was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Baby Scott suffered minor injures and transported to the Arnold Palmer Hospital.
Troopers are still trying to determine whether Angela or Jessica was driving the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, FHP said.
