A Broward County Circuit Court Judge was ordered out of her family home by Sheriff’s deputies on Easter Sunday and ordered to put the firearm she legally carried on the ground, even as cops had their guns pointed at her.
Broward County Circuit Court Judge llona Homes, her sister Carmita Scarlett and husband Neville and other family members, came face-to-face with law enforcement officers’ guns, after a neighbor called to report a possible burglary at a nearby home.
A communications error led officers to the Scarlett’s home after a neighbor reported a possible burglary at a nearby home.
According to nbcmiami.com, deputies knocked on a window at the Scarlett’s home with their guns drawn and the occupants were ordered out. Judge Homes who was present, informed the police that she was a judge and carried a firearm legally. But, that had no bearing on the cops.
Judge Homes and the other family members, were ordered to come out of the home with their hands in the air. Judge Homes was told to place the gun on the ground as she exited the home, all the while a cop pointed a gun at her. She complied.
Fortunately for Judge Homes and the rest of her family, one of the higher-ranking deputies recognized her and the cops were ordered to drop their weapons.
Carmita said, the family did not even get an apology from the Broward deputies!
