A 10-year-old Tampa boy committed suicide on Monday, after being sent to his room for a time out for misbehaving, police said.
Tyriq Ammons, of E. Sligh Avenue, took his life around 6:00 pm, on Monday.
Ammon’s mother, who went to check on him after he was sent to his room for misbehaving, found him hanging by the neck from the shelving unit in the closet. Tyriq had apparently fashioned a noose from a game system cord.
According to Tampa Police, a neighbor began chest compressions until police arrived and began CPR.
Tyriq, who was rushed to the St. Joseph’s Hospital, never regained consciousness and was pronounced deceased.
Police said, preliminary autopsy results are consistent with suicide.
