A jury on Thursday recommended that a Flager man be put to death for the shooting deaths of his ex-girlfriend and new boyfriend with a shotgun.
28-year-old William Gregory, who was convicted last month of two counts of first degree murder for killing 22-year-old Daniel Dyer and his girlfriend, Skyler Meekins, 17, while asleep on August 21, 2007, learned his fate on Thursday.
In a vote of 7 to 5, the jury recommended that Gregory be put to death. Circuit Judge William A. Parsons who sentenced Gregory to death, however, was not bound by the jury’s recommendation, but was required to give it due consideration.
Meekins and Gregory have a daughter Kyla, 4-year-old. Meekins had ended the relationship with Gregory, before starting to date Dyer.
During the trial, it was revealed that Gregory had vowed to kill Meekins if she ever left him or cheated on him.
