He has dreams to one day be a real attorney fighting for justice in a court of law but for now Timber Creek High School senior, Nasser Almulla, will settle for being named the best high school trial attorney in the state. He won the honor of “Best Attorney”, and a $2,500 college scholarship at the 2011 Florida Mock Trial Competition. The honor is determined by the judges in each trial round, which is made up of attorneys as well as Circuit and County judges from across the state. The competition is conducted by the Florida Law-Related Education Association and is supported by the Florida Bar. Teams from all 20 judicial circuits in the State of Florida are represented in the competition.
Timber Creek law studies teacher, Sean Ashby said, “It truly means the world to me that Nasser won this award. I have been able to view first-hand what his hard work and dedication over the last two years have been able to accomplish, and it is one of the most gratifying moments of my teaching career. ”
Nasser Almulla has many options for college after he graduates in June. He said he may also look to play college basketball while continuing his education and/or work as a paralegal.
