Teenager Shot in the Face by Drive-By Shooter

An 18-year-old teenager was shot in the face outside her home on Frisco Circle in Orlando, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Shanice Shoemo was injured early on Thursday morning, as she stood in the driveway of her home with a friend, 19-year-old Jervaughn Bonner.  The shooting occurred around 12:45 am.

Bonner told deputies he was standing with Shanice when a dark colored, four-door sedan, with dark tinted windows and no headlights drove by and several shots rang out. Bonner said one of the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots using a handgun, striking Shoemo.

When deputies arrived on the scene they found Shanice lying in the driveway. She was treated by Orange County Fire Rescue, then transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.  Her injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

The shooting incident remains under active investigation and deputies are working to develop leads with the view to identifying suspects.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Crimeline at #1-800-423-TIPS.  Callers could remain anonymous and maybe eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
