A Hispanic man who shot and killed his estranged wife and her new boyfriend on Sunday night, has been charged with two counts of murder, Orlando police said.
Eligio Isalgue, 45, forcibly entered the apartment of his estranged wife, Rosa Barrientos Islague, 49, just after 9:30 pm, on Sunday, investigators said, and opened fired killing Rosa and her new boyfriend, Raymond D. Treasure, 48 years.
A spokesperson for OPD said, an eye witness told police, Eligio was peeking through Rosa’s apartment in the 5400 block of Lake Margaret Drive, before he forced his way in.
Eligio eventually gained entry through the rear sliding glass door, after his attempt to kick in the front door failed.
Police accused Eligio of killing Rosa and Treasure with a .40 handgun, which was recovered inside the apartment.
At the time of the shooting, Eligio and Rosa’s 13-year-old daughter and an older friend, were also in the apartment, but were not harmed.
Police, who had arrived at the apartment confronted and detained Eligio in the parking lot.
Eligio and Rosa had been together for 20 years, police said, but the couple had been separated for the last two months.
The couples history revealed that, in 1998, Rosa had filed one simple battery domestic violence case against Eligio, but charges were later dropped due to disinclination to prosecute.
Eligio Isalague has been charged with two counts of murder. He is being held in the Orange County Jail without bond.
