Fifth Third Bank Announces Winner of African American History Maker Campaign

On Friday, Fifth Third Bank Central Florida announced Lennette Fields of Orlando as the winning caller on WCFB (94.5 FM) during its African American History Maker advertising campaign.

Ms. Fields was one of 20 $50 MasterCard® gift card winners who called into the station after listening to a vignette featuring an African American history maker during Black History Month. Ms. Fields was selected from the 20 finalists as the grand prize $1,000 winner chosen at the conclusion of the month. As part of her prize, she also had the honor of choosing a local charity to receive $5,300 from Fifth Third Bank. Ms. Fields selected Frontline Outreach due to the positive impact the organization has had on her own life.

Frontline Outreach, Orlando’s oldest program for outreach to urban children, serves more than 1,000 people annually through educational and leadership programs for youth and families. Their purpose is to prepare young people to become world-class leaders through early childhood and character development programs.

Fifth Third Bank Central Florida Vice President and Community Development Officer Joyce Odongo will present the $1,000 check to Ms. Fields and a $5,300 check to Frontline Outreach on March 22 at 2:30 p.m. at the charity’s office in Orlando.

Fifth Third Bank’s advertising campaign was designed to feature and honor 20 African Americans, like Mary McLeod Bethune and Virginia Randolph, whose unique contributions to society helped shape American history.

“We are excited to present checks for $1,000 and $5,300 in honor of Black History Month,” said Odongo. “This was a great opportunity for our Bank to give the appropriate recognition to African American leaders of the past, as well as support the community’s needs of today
