Scott Puts State Employees Pay, Contracts Online

Saying taxpayers have a right to know, Gov. Rick Scott has created a website that allows viewers to check out how much specific state employees get paid, by name, while allowing others to look at pensions being paid out to state employees whose identities remain unknown.

The website, www.floridahasarighttoknow.com also includes links to public records requests and state contracts.

Lawmakers are scheduled to take up a series of bills Thursday dealing with state and local pensions.

Scott and Republican leaders in both chambers want employees to contribute some portion of their salaries, up to 5 percent, toward their retirement accounts.

Florida is among a handful of states that does not require an employee contribution.
