Orlando’s Mayor Buddy Dyer has secured 6.7 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to implement a Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP). The program, which is part of the Strengthen Orlando Plan, will help address the effects of foreclosures by forming public/private partnerships to purchase, rehabilitate, sell or rent homes. In addition, this program will assist qualified buyers with down payment assistance and financial counseling.
The City is hosting an informational meeting to provide an overview of the NSP activities and timeline and the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The RFP is scheduled to be issued on April 27, 2009 and funding will be allocated in July.
“Our NSP has been designed to engage a strong set of community partners to address foreclosures” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “I encourage all our community partners to attend our NSP information meeting and learn how they can help strengthen our community.“
Individuals, companies or organizations that purchase, rehabilitate and sell/rent property; including but not limited to contractors, developers and non-profit organizations.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, April 16 from 5.30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Jones High School Auditorium, 801 Rio Grande Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32805.
