A man who attempted to rob a bank on Monday on Orange County’s westside, but left without the cash, is now in custody.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies say, Mathew Gage Meguiar, 26, passed a note to a teller at the Fairwinds Credit Union located at 6329 West Colonial Drive on Monday around 1:20 p.m.. Meguiar told the teller he was robbing the bank and demanded cash.
The teller attempted to comply, but in the confusion, Meguiar left the bank without the cash.
An officer duty Orange County Sheriff’s deputy who was nearby and heard the 911 call go out from the Fairwinds Credit Union spotted the suspect, based on the description.
Meguiar was arrested and taken into custody. He is being charged with attempted robbery.
