New Interim Police Chief Named in Windermere

Orange County Sheriff’s Office Captain Ralph Groover has been named Interim Police Chief for the Windermere Police Department in Florida.  He will serve as the City of Windermere’s Police Chief for an indefinite period of time.

Captain Groover, 51, joined the Sheriff’s Office on June 26, 1979 and currently commands the agency Traffic Unit.

Groover replaces former Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor who served for more than eight years.  Saylor was arrested on Wednesday and charged with hindering an investigation into rape allegations against a friend, Scott F. Bush of Windermere, who was also arrested.

Both Saylor and Bush are in the Orange County Jail without bond.
