JONES HIGH SCHOOL TO HOST POLITICAL FORUM

The Orlando Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Psi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are jointly hosting a Candidates Forum for local residents on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, beginning at six o’clock in the evening, at the Jones High School Auditorium, 801 South Rio Grande Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32805.

An increased number of voters are expected at the poles this year to not only help elect the next President of the United States, but also a number of local officials including the next Orange County Sheriff.  The forum is designed to help voters make informative electoral decisions about the candidates’ character, communication skills, ability to think on their feet and knowledge of issues that are important to our community. Additionally, this venue will serve as a measure to get candidates on the record concerning their positions on issues once elected into office.

Ms. Monica May, of Star 94.5 will moderate the forum through asking a number of prepared questions for each candidate on policy issues relevant to the office sought and vital to the area’s future. Personal invitations have been extended to all running for public office in the upcoming November elections. Candidates will also be on site providing campaign materials to local residents.

All inquiries concerning the event should be directed to Ronda Robinson at (407) 925-9113 or Tiffany Cowart Hughes at (321) 302-0200. Admission is free of charge to the public.
