Deputies are searching for a man who kidnapped and raped a woman in a nearby wooded area, as she waited for a LYNX bus stop early on Sunday morning near 17th Street and South Orange Blossom Trail.
The 41-year-old woman told police she was kidnapped by a black male suspect at gunpoint at a LYNX bus stop around 6:35 am, on Sunday morning. The man forced her into a vacant lot on 17th Street and sexually assaulted, the victim told police. The suspect fled the scene towards Westmoreland Drive.
The man was described to be in his mid-twenties, about 6 feet tall and weighing 170 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black colored hooded sweatshirt and dark colored, calf-length shorts at the time of the assault.
