An early Saturday morning crash on Old Mims Road near Scott Road in Seminole County, has left the driver and passenger of the vehicle dead, FHP said.
Troopers said that a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Kelly Nicole Lindsey, of Oviedo, Florida was traveling westbound on Old Mims Road near Scott Road around 4:25 am, on Saturday when the vehicle’s life side tires left the pave portion of the road. Lindsey, who was driving a a high rate of speed, over-corrected and the vehicle started to rotate clockwise. The left side of the Jetta struck a large tree, causing it to rotate counter-clockwise, striking a second large tree.
The crash caused the vehicle to separate into two pieces. The rear of the vehicle came to finally rest on its roof.
Kelly N. Lindsey, 20, and her 21-year-old male passenger were ejected from the vehicle, coming to rest next to the rear of the vehicle. Both Lindsey and her passenger died on the spot.
Troopers have not released the name of the male passenger, who was also from Oviedo, pending notification of next of kin.
Neither Lindsey or the passenger was wearing a seat belt. It is not clear whether alcohol played a role in the crash as toxicology results are being awaited.
