Deputies are investigating a domestic violence incident which ended with a deceased victim at the Bala Sands Apartments in west Orange County early on Saturday morning.
According to deputies, a grandmother who lives out of state received a series of text messages around 5:00 am on Saturday, from her adult granddaughter at the Bala Sands apartments, asking that she contact the police on her behalf, which the grandmother did.
Deputies then proceeded to the Bala Sands apartments to ensure the well-being of the granddaughter, but were unable to make contact with her immediately.
The 27-year-old granddaughter did eventually come out of the apartment and confirmed her need for assistance, confirming that had aggravated battery had taken place, deputies said. The woman also told deputies there was a 4-year-old child asleep inside. Both the woman and child were able to exit the apartment shortly after, without incident.
Deputies tried to establish a dialogue with the man, the suspect, inside the apartment, but met with negative results. The sound of a gunshot was heard from within the apartment, deputies said.
Specialized Units and the SWAT Team subsequently entered the apartment and found the suspect dead.
Deputies have not released the names of the victim or the deceased.
