Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Tuesday night on State Road 50 near the St. Johns River Bridge.
Troopers said that Scott K. Barker, 42, of Orlando, was driving a 1998 Ford vehicle westbound on State Road 50 around 6:00 pm on Tuesday, (October 16) when for an unknown the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder. Barker over-corrected, troopers said, and the vehicle overturned onto the guard rail. Barker was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the spot.
FHP said that Barker was not wearing a seat belt. It is not clear yet whether alcohol played a role in the crash as toxicology results are pending.
Troopers are continuing with their investigation.
