Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on Mercy Drive and Princeton Street, in Orange County on Wednesday night.
Troopers said that a 1996 Dodge pick-up driven by Willie Thomas, 51, of Orlando was traveling westbound on Princeton Street in the outside lane. Gerald Ramsey, 49, was attempting to cross Princeton Street from the south part of the road to the north, and not in a cross when he walked directly into the path of the pick-up. The front of the vehicle struck Ramsey.
Ramsey was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries. It is not clear whether alcohol played a role and toxicology results are pending.
Thomas sustained no injuries as a result of the accident.
Meanwhile, the crash remains under investigation and troopers say that charges are pending.
