A man who battered the mother of his two children on Sunday morning and then attempted to commit suicide while he sat in the back of a police car is now behind bars.
According to the arrest affidavit, Jose Luis Ramirez, 25, went to the home of Nicole D. Bouzigard, 24, the mother of his two young children, at 2952 Landtree Place around 11:00 am on Sunday, where they got into an argument.
Bouzigard told police that during the argument, Ramirez slapped her and she fell backwards, whereupon he began to strangle her. Bouzigard told police that Ramirez said he was going to kill her and that he stopped strangling her after their 7-year-old daughter told her father to stop. The victim said that Bouzigard left the home with their two children, but returned and started banging on the door. She told police that the did not let him and instead called 911.
Bouzigard told detectives that Ramirez removed a screen off the window and put one of his daughters through the window, then asked her to open the door. Once inside, Bouzigard told police that Ramirez started to verbally abuse her as he dressed the children.
Upon the arrival of police, Ramirez fled the home, jumping from the second story balcony and over several fences, to escape detectives. Police were able to track down Ramirez through his GPS monitoring device and arrested him at 7750 south Orange Blossom Trail.
Ramirez was placed in the back of a squad car at Landtree Place where he attempted to strangle himself by tightening the seat belt around his neck. As police tried to extricate him from the seat belt around his neck, he shouted “Finish me! Finish me! I want to die! Shoot me!” Police eventually subdued Ramirez and transported him to Florida Hospital East for medical treatment. Once cleared, Ramirez was taken to the Orange county Jail.
