Pine Hills Families Get Keys to New Townhomes

In celebration of World Habitat Day, volunteers and local officials joined Habitat for Humanity Orlando to recognize the need – both nationally and locally – for affordable housing. During the event, home sponsors presented seven families with keys to their new Stag Horn Villas townhomes.

Sponsors and Homeowners

The building dedicated during World Habitat Day began construction last May during Women Build Week. Each townhome was individually funded from donations received from sponsors including: the Orlando Magic, Universal Orlando, Delta Air Lines, JP Morgan Chase, Dr. Phillips Charities, the City of Orlando, Publix Super Markets Charities, RBC Bank and Florida Home Loan Bank.

“JPMorgan Chase is committed to the Pine Hills community, and we are proud to support efforts that will enhance their quality of life,” said Michael Dosal, President, Chase Middle Market Banking, Central Florida. “We are honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity Orlando in constructing its first multifamily development – Stag Horn Villas – as it provides much-needed affordable housing to our neighbors.”  JPMorgan Chase has hundreds of employees in Central Florida, and more than 100 local branches.

Habitat Orlando joined more than 2,200 affiliates celebrating World Habitat Day. The United Nations designated World Habitat Day as the first Monday in October in 1985. The day serves not only to affirm the need for adequate shelter for all – but also as a reminder of the collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.

“Today we saw local companies, organizations and people coming together to support a common cause, and our mission, to provide homes to hardworking families,” said Dee Danmeyer, executive director for Habitat for Humanity Orlando. “The fact that we were able to pass the keys to seven new homeowners today was the result of months of dedication from our sponsors, volunteers and homeowners.”

“I would like to thank the sponsors and donors, and a specials thanks to Habitat Orlando,” said Alice Tolliver, a new Habitat homeowner. “I have finally made my dream come true.”
