Semi Crash Leaves Driver Dead

Troopers are investigating what caused a tractor trailer to crash on Thursday around 6:30 pm, on County Road 46A in Lake County, killing the female driver of the vehicle.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the semi was traveling westbound on CR 46A, half-mile north of State Road 46, in the right lane.

The tractor trailer, which was driven by Winifred Brune, 65 years, of Leesburg, for an unknown reason drifted off onto the right shoulder, crashing into a fence.

Brune was taken to the Waterman Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Troopers say that it is unknown at this time whether Brune suffered a medical condition that caused her to travel off the road.

The crash remains under investigation.
