GOLA to Hosts Workshop, Job Fair on Career Opportunities

As a thriving, $2 billion a year industry, Orlando’s limousine and transportation services represent an industry on the move. During an economic climate when jobs are scarce, it’s surprising to learn of a growing number of career opportunities available in this booming industry.  In order to raise the awareness of these opportunities and to help prepare applicants for jobs in this field, the Greater Orlando Limousine Association (GOLA) is hosting a career development workshop and job fair at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Orlando Airport on September 13; 1-3pm.

This informative event will showcase the number of different career opportunities available to job seekers as well as share the best tools to pursue them. The event underscores GOLA’s mission to educate and train a new wave of chauffeurs and other personnel to fill employment gaps in this growing industry, as well as bring trained personnel from the local community together with potential employers.

The Orlando CVB forecasts a 5.8 percent growth in tourism in 2011, primarily from the business travel market. Coupled by the destination’s leisure visitors, the limousine and transportation services industry has great growth potential.  This comes with increased employment opportunities. Opportunities include such positions as: chauffeurs, outside sales staff, dispatchers and meeting and events greeters.

The career development workshop will also feature guest speaker Barry Lefkowitz, a regarded industry personality with several prominent achievements in the limousine industry, including influencing legislation, serving as director of government affairs of the National Limousine Association and serving on the International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR) committee. Among his vast industry achievements, Lefkowitz has developed and successfully guided over 300 transportation bills through legislative and congressional processes.

According to Michael McKenzie, GOLA president, “The limousine and transportation field offers a number of professional opportunities.  We expect this event to help raise that awareness, get qualified candidates trained and in front of hiring institutions.  If someone is looking for career opportunities, there are many in this industry.”
