WHAT: Awards Ceremony

WHERE: Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Central Complex — 2500 West Colonial Drive, Orlando — Training Room 1
WHO: Deputy First Class Sandra Klawe-Genao is being presented a Certificate of Commendation for her tireless work as a School Resource Officer and “Making a Difference” in the lives of students, schools and community. Recently DFC Klawe-Genao assisted a 13 year old victim who was severely beaten with a bat by several teenaged subjects. While attending to the victim, she also assisted other units with the apprehension of the suspects. After the incident she visited the victim and his family while off duty, at his home, during recovery on several occasions. DFC Klawe-Genao instructs both the Drug Abuse Resistance Education, DARE and Gang Resistance Education and Training curricula at all of her assigned schools. She is not required to teach the GREAT curricula at all of her assigned schools; however, she understands the importance and impact the information has on the children and ensures the students are afforded the educational advantages. Deputy Klawe-Genao is an outstanding deputy whom Sheriff Demings is proud to honor today.
ALSO: Sheriff Jerry Demings will present several commendations to citizens and OCSO personnel who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make Orange County a safer place.
