Early voting continues this week leading up the the primary elections on August 24th and so far, about one percent of Orange County voters that are registered have cast their vote.
As of August 14, a total of 6,610 persons had cast their vote early, reports the Orange county Supervisor of Elections website. Of this total, 2,633 persons voted for the Democratic Party and 3,315 voters cast their vote for the Republican Party. 662 persons voted for “Other” than the Democratic or Republican Parties.

According to political observers, turnout is expected to be low. The Supervisor of Elections in Orange County, Bill Cowles, predicts that voter turnout will be in the low-20 percent range.
A total of 609,941 persons have registered to vote in Orange County, with 267,416 registered as Democrats and 189,159 as Republicans. Another 153,366 have registered under “Other”.
