In partnership with the Wells’Built Museum and The Nielsen Company, Rep. Geraldine F. Thompson presented monetary awards of $1400.00 to two Orlando students. The scholarship recipients were selected based on academic achievement and need. The recipients were Jillian Washington and Devinn Heard.
Jillian Washington is a graduate of Olympia High School. She will be attending Florida Memorial University in Miami, Florida and will have a double major that includes Business Administration and pre-law. The second recipient was Devinn Heard, is a graduate of Edgewater High School. He will be majoring in Electrical Engineering, and attending Auburn University in Alabama.
“I am so glad that I had an opportunity to give back to these very deserving students,” said Rep. Thompson. “I attended college with the help of academic scholarships and may not have been able to attend college otherwise. It is very gratifying to be able to offer the same type of financial assistance.”
