As can be expected, Chief John Tegg is doing very well in Winter Park, and not relying upon direct mail mail to get his message out to voters, going instead with local media, utilizing press releases and relying on local consultants, unlike his largest opponent Jerry Demings.
Demings has been criticized by minority own media for his reliance on high paid consultants who have completyely ignored locally owned minority media.
Chief John Tegg continued his perfect record at last night’s Winter Park Chamber of Commerce Political Mingle where he captured his fourth straight straw poll victory with 62.3% of the vote. Chief Tegg received almost three times more votes than his second place competitor. A total of 326 votes were cast in the sheriff’s race. The voting breakdown was as follows: Malone Stewart received 19 votes or 5.8%. Bill Armstrong received 29 votes or 8.9%. Jerry Demings received 75 votes or 23%. John Tegg received 203 votes or 62.3%.
“The voters in Orange County are fed up with the recent increases in crime”, said Tegg. “I have spent countless hours traveling the county and presenting my plans for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. These straw poll victories have provided great evidence that my message is resonating with the people.”
Tegg may be out of the race because of the Federal Charges of Hatch Act Violations.
