Laura Bush Foundation Awards $12,000 to School Libraries

Grand Avenue Primary Learning Center and Westridge Middle School have been selected to each receive $6,000 grants from the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries.

The schools are among 13 schools chosen in Florida this year. The grant money will be used to expand, update, and diversify book collections.

This is Grand Avenue’s second award in five years from the Laura Bush Foundation.  Grand Avenue media specialist Gail Przeclawski said, “When it was announced that we were awarded $6,000 to buy new library books, everyone at Grand Avenue, students, staff, even parents began giving me suggestions on which books to buy.”

Westridge Middle School media specialist Teanna Manley said, “This grant will bring just over 425 new, fresh, and highly-recommended titles to our students. I cannot wait to see the faces on the students when we present the school with all of the new books.”
