Dozens of tar balls washed up on Cocoa Beach on Tuesday, according to news reports.
At this time, it is not clear whether the tar balls are from the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, part of normal debris from major ships or a sunken shrimping boat.
The US Coast Guard has collected samples of the tar balls for testing and the results would be known in about one week, reports Florida Today.
