This year, Construct Two Group (CTG) reaches a milestone – its 20th anniversary. The privately owned firm specializes in “fast track” projects, having completed numerous high-profile jobs in both the public and private sectors. In the past two decades, Orlando’s CTG has grown from a small subcontractor to one of the largest African-American-owned construction management companies in Florida, with additional offices in Tampa and Tallahassee.
Owned by Derrick Wallace, CTG started as a glass-glazing company and evolved into a full-service general contracting firm in 1990. Wallace’s brother; Keith Williams, joined the company in 1996 as Executive Vice President/CFO and was promoted to President/CEO in 2007. CTG provides construction management, design/build, and program and cost management services. Wallace attributes much of the company’s initial success and growth to a few key projects as well as companies (like Disney) “taking a chance on the little guy.”
The minority-owned business established partnerships with contractors, including Centex Construction, Clark Construction Group, The Haskell Company and Brown & Root. And through the years, CTG has grown to an individual bonding capacity of $30 million and an aggregate capacity of $60 million. The company has also worked closely with its joint venture partners to manage projects as large as $520 million.
Now in its 20th year, CTG employs 30 people throughout Florida and remains dedicated to continued expansion and incorporating green building practices. The firm recently completed two projects seeking LEED certification: the Panama City Beach Library and the Levin Advocacy Law Center at the University of Florida.
“For the future, we want to incorporate more BIM and LEED-certified buildings, secure more federal and healthcare projects, and work with other contractors who are looking to partner on large jobs,” said Wallace.

I was looking forward to building a working relationship with this company. Unfortunately, since working with them, I have discovered that this is not the type of company that I would feel comfortable growing with. The manner in which they do business is shameful. They are wasting our tax payer dollars just to save themselves time & money. It’s just disgraceful! I would have thought from this article that they would have had more integrity. I will not be working with them in the future and hopefully, neither will you.
