Crotty Connects the Dots to benefit OIA and I-Drive

Recently, Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty has been saying that, there is a major flaw with the planned rail systems–SunRail and High Speed Rail– in that they do not connect, as currently designed.

However, while there are several solutions, there is one from an Atlanta-based company that Crotty seems to think should be looked at favorably, cfnews13 is reporting.

The proposal that is getting a second look utilizes American Maglev Technology and entails building an elevated rail system that would connect Orlando International Airport (OIA), SunRail and a new Orlando Gateway station in the vicinity of the Orange County Convention Center on I-Drive.

There are reports too, that the price tag would run to about $223 million.  However, taxpayers wouldn’t be called upon to funds up, as this light rail connector train would be privately funded.

The Florida Department of Transportation would first have to give its consent to the project, before work can commence.
