Trump Survives Assassination Attempt, Calls for Unity

Former President Donald J. Trump survived an assassination attempt at his presidential rally on Saturday, standing with blood on his face and raising his fist in the air after being shot. In the aftermath, President Trump is calling for unity.



President Trump was shot and wounded. 50-year-old rally attendee Corey Comperatore was shot and killed. According to the Secret Service, two other rally attendees were also critically wounded.

Trump emerged and pumped his fist in the air with a bloody face, the crowd erupted in cheers of “USA!”

Trump assassinationThe Republican campaign and the RNC reported that President Trump is doing well and that he is grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their fast action. President Trump extended his condolences to the family of the person at the rally who was killed, and also to the family of the people who were badly injured.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” President Donald Trump said. “I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized what was happening. God Bless America!”

He then called for unity and said he loves our country.

Former First Lady Melania Trump also released a statement calling for love and respect.

“This morning, ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence,” said former First Lady Melania Trump. “We all want a world where respect is paramount, family is first, and love transcends. We can realize this world again. Each of us must demand to get it back. We must insist that respect fills the cornerstone of our relationships, again.”

The 20-year-old shooter, who was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by the Secret Service. There will be multiple investigations of this unthinkable assassination attempt. Congress is already demanding answers and planning hearings. Many Democrats and Republicans are calling on all sides to cool down political rhetoric. The White House announced there will be a review of the security at the rally.

Florida GOP fundraiser Meredith O’Rourke is also raising money for the Butler, Pennsylvania supporters and families wounded or killed in the brutal and horrific assassination attempt. President Donald Trump has authorized this account and he even sent a text message to his supporters with the link.

President Joe Biden said “everybody must condemn” the assassination attempt on former President Trump. “We cannot allow this to be happening. The idea that there’s violence in America like this is just unheard of,” President Biden said.

“There’s no place for this kind of violence in America,” Democratic President Joe Biden said. “We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

The overall bipartisan message is that this country must unequivocally reject all political violence.
