Wanted Central Florida Murder Suspect Arrested in Alabama after Fleeing

A wanted Central Florida murder suspect out of Hillsborough County has been arrested in Alabama after fleeing the state.




There was an active warrant out for 29-year-old Altwain Carlise’s arrest due to his involvement in selling drugs that led to a fatal overdose of a 23-year-old man on August 1, 2023.

On May 21st, at 7am, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force located Altwain Carlise in Enterprise, Alabama.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay was also instrumental in this arrest. They sent several tips to our detectives, one of which led directly to Carlise’s arrest.

He was booked into the Coffee County Jail, facing the following charges:

  • Murder in the 1st Degree which resulted from the Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance
  • Trafficking in Fentanyl
  • Delivery of Cocaine
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell

Carlise is also facing additional drug trafficking charges in the state of Alabama.

Their relentless pursuit of justice and commitment to addressing the opioid crisis in our community have been nothing short of exemplary,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I am grateful to the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force. Their assistance in arresting this suspect has been instrumental in ensuring that justice is served.”
