The Florida Lottery recently announced that James Breseman, of Beverly Hills, claimed a $1 million prize from the 500X THE CASH scratch-off game at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.
The Citrus County winner chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.00.
The Central Florida man purchased his winning ticket from Publix, located at 6760 West Gulf to Lake Highway in Crystal River. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
The $50 500X THE CASH game features a top prize of $25 million – the largest ever offered on a Florida scratch-off game – and the best odds to become an instant millionaire.
With more than $1.66 billion in cash prizes, this game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.23.
Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024. Additionally, since inception, scratch-off games have awarded more than $63.1 billion in prizes, created 2,175 millionaires, and generated more than $18.95 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
