Orlando Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost, the first member of Generation Z to be elected to Congress, recently announced that his MadSoul Music Festival raised $40,000 for four local nonprofits.
The Democratic Congressman focused on organizations fighting for reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, and civil rights in Florida. Florida Access Network, Zebra Coalition, Equal Ground, and SWAN of Orlando each received donations from Frost’s campaign.
Rep. Frost said the funds have been equally distributed among the organizations.
The Orlando Democrat, whose campaign arm hosted MadSoul Festival in Loch Haven Park in early March, welcomed artists and speakers from across the state and country, all in an effort to bridge the gap between cool and consciousness ahead of the 2024 elections.
The festival reported more than 3,000 attendees, who heard from a lineup of artists and speakers including Lin-Manuel Miranda, MUNA, Phoebe Bridgers, and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Attendees were connected with causes and organizations tabling on festival grounds and collecting signatures for ballot initiatives or helping people get registered to vote.
“MadSoul Festival was a unique opportunity for Central Florida to come together in music, love, and activism,” said Rep. Maxwell Frost. “I could not be more proud that through our efforts to connect the people with the issues that matter most, we were able to raise $40,000 for local organizations that have done so much to better our community and state. My campaign will continue to work alongside these incredible organizations come November and beyond to help protect our rights and make our voices heard across Florida.”
