Suspended Orlando Commissioner Issues Statement

Suspended Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill, who was arrested after being indicted on multiple serious charges, has issued a public statement.

Hill, a Democrat, claimed confidence in the legal process ahead of her and said she will “wait for my day in court when I’ll be able to prove my innocence and that I always acted in good faith.”

On March 27th, Regina Hill was indicted in the Circuit Court of the Ninth Judicial Circuit in and for Orange County on three counts of Exploitation of Elderly Person or Disabled Person Greater than $50,000, one count of Scheme to Defraud of $50,000 or More, one count of Fraudulent Use of Personal Identification Over $100,000, and one count of Mortgage Fraud Greater than $100,000.

After the investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement led to her criminal indictment, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis issued an Executive Order officially suspending Regina Hill, a Democrat, in accordance with the Florida Constitution and sections 112.51(1) and 112.51(2), Florida Statutes.

Prior to Regina Hill’s recent arrest and indictment, West Orlando News called on the Orlando Commissioner to resign immediately, and if she did not, WON called on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to remove her from office. Just before she was indicted, arrested, and suspended from office, Regina Hill posted “feeling blessed” on social media saying: “Me after the devil sent one of his minions from the pits of hell after me and God said No! The devil don’t only wear Prada’s, She wear a Robe and Collar too! Blessed Up! God did It!! #LetThatMarinate #TheWorkContinues”

After her suspension, the City of Orlando will now hold a special election to fill the District 5 City Commissioner seat.

Here is the full public statement issued from Regina Hill on April 1, 2024:
