The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for the attempted murder of four people in Central Florida on December 20, 2023.
HCSO deputies responded to multiple calls for service for a shooting that occurred on Sweet Sapling Street in Riverview near Tampa on Dec. 20th and located three victims with gunshot wounds, all determined to be non-life threatening. The shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation that turned physical. A fourth victim was physically assaulted when he attempted to break up the fight and was shot at, but not struck.
After a thorough investigation, detectives arrested 44-year-old Darcy Washington this month for his involvement. He is facing multiple charges, including:
- Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm and Deadly Weapon (x3)
- Attempted Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm – Discharge (x2)
- Attempted Murder in the Second Degree Premeditated Firearm – Discharge (x2)
- Discharge Firearm in Public or On Residential Property
- Shooting at Within or Into a Building
“This criminal can no longer inflict pain and violence in the community now that he’s behind bars,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This investigation and successful arrest shows the tremendous diligence of teamHCSO’s deputies and detectives.”
This investigation is ongoing, according to local law enforcement.
