Unleash Your Creativity: Orange County Innovation Lab Naming Challenge

Orange County is requesting students to unleash their brilliance and creativity by submitting a name or phrase that is impactful and one that describes the local Innovation Lab. The Innovation Lab is physically located in the heart of the Historic Pine Hills community.

It’s a chance to unleash your creativity, think outside the box, and be part of shaping the future of innovation in Orange County. The naming challenge is open to all middle and high school students residing in Central Florida.

Entries must be submitted electronically through the contest’s official website by 11:59pm
on February 29, 2024.

According to the guidelines, the name must be igniting and telling as a space for fostering and driving innovation and mentorship. The Innovation Lab is a dedicated space that fosters creative thinking, experimentation and the development of new ideas, processes, and products. It is a collaborative environment where communities from different disciplines come together to brainstorm, prototype and test innovative concepts with the goal of problem solving or driving advancements in technology. The community consists of County operations, business/strategic partners and stakeholders and community innovators.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Relevance to the Theme: How well does the name capture the essence of innovation, collaboration, and inclusion?
  2. Creativity and Originality: Does the name stand out and showcase a unique perspective?
  3. Memorability: Is the name easy to remember and resonate with the target audience or use of space?
  4. Clarity and Impact: Does the name make an immediate positive impression and convey a sense of purpose?

The winner shall be chosen by the sum of the weighted tally of the 4 judging categories above. If the winning name is submitted by more than one Contestant, the greater number of high scores in each category will break the tie.

First place wins a laptop for educational purposes, second place wins a tablet for educational purposes, and third place wins an educational experience for two.
