UPDATE: February 9TH 10:00 pm– Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies have released the names of the victim and suspect. They are: Alissa Blanton, 23 years (Victim) and Roger Troy, 61 years (suspect). OCSO deputies have not released any further details of the investigation.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies are continuing to investigate a murder-suicide that occurred on February 8th, around 1:30 pm, in a parking lot at 12150 Research Parkway near the University of Central Florida.
According to detectives, the suspect encountered the victim in the vicinity of the AT&T building in the Research Park. He was armed with a handgun and shot the victim multiple times. The suspect then shot himself. The woman died when she got to neighboring Florida Hospital. The suspect died on the spot.
Detectives are today examining video from surveillance cameras that are on top of the AT & T building, hoping to get more information regarding the murder-suicide. But, workers in the building believe that the gun man knew the woman.
Deputies have not yet released the names of the deceased nor further details of their investigation. They could do so later today.
