Small Plane Crashes in Central Florida Forest

According to local law enforcement, a single-engine plane crashed early Friday in a Central Florida forest, but the pilot was able to walk away with minor injuries.




Around 1:49am Friday, it was reported a Cessna 172 lost power and crashed in the woods off Marsh Road in the area of Lake George State Forest northwest of DeLand.

The plane was a 1967 single engine Cessna with N-Number N8257L traveling to DeLand from Slidell, Louisiana.

The pilot was alert and conscious and able to walk away from the aircraft reporting minor injuries. He indicated he was the only person on board.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reported that the NTSB and FAA have been notified.
