Thousands of participants laced up their running shoes for the 3rd annual School Spirit Run hosted by the Foundation for OCPS and powered by Delta Dental at SeaWorld Orlando.
Over 2,400 participants and 148 teams for Orange County Public Schools, including teams from 120 schools, signed up to run, jog, skip or stroll their way through the Central Florida theme park.
The three-mile course was an opportunity for participants to enjoy all of the entertainment SeaWorld has to offer as they traveled through colorful pathways and right through the iconic Sesame Street neighborhood.
Oak Ridge, Horizon, and Windermere high schools’ cheerleaders, along with the Dr. Phillips High School drumline and Oak Ridge High School pep band were on the sidelines supplying inspiration. Additionally, “No Lonely Hearts” sang the National Anthem and treated everyone to a live performance during the post-race celebration.
This event celebrated the local community’s public schools and all things “school spirit.” Orange County Public Schools participants received a custom-designed race t-shirt and a fun themed finishers medal, along with discounted admission to the park for the day.
Proceeds from the run benefit the Foundation for OCPS, whose purpose is investing in students today to strengthen the community tomorrow.
