A Central Florida man who was racing over 100 mph on the Gandy Bridge was arrested.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two cars – a Chevrolet Camaro and a Dodge Challenger – were excessively speeding and racing on the Gandy Bridge in Tampa Bay.
FHP identified one driver as Curtis Alessis Andrew.
The 46-year-old man from Clearwater who was arrested ended up driving into Pinellas County, and eventually stopped because he hit a law enforcement vehicle.
He will face charges in both counties, according to law enforcement.
The Gandy Bridge, which spans Old Tampa Bay from St. Petersburg to Tampa, has been used by street racers driving illegal speeds many times, but troopers are monitoring it.
