Biden Cabinet Member Visits Orlando, Miami on Latino Prosperity Tour

Last week, SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, the voice in President Joe Biden’s Cabinet for over 33 million small businesses in America, traveled to Orlando to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Latino Prosperity Tour, before stopping in Miami.

The White House’s Latino Prosperity Tour is an ongoing, multi-city tour that engages communities on the micro- and macro-economic issues directly impacting Latinos.

Throughout the day, Administrator Guzman was joined by Central Florida Congressman Darren Soto, Orlando Congressman Maxwell Frost, and the Chairwoman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Congresswoman Nanette Barragán.

In the morning, officials visited a local small business, before Administrator Guzman joined the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Conference for a fireside chat, where she discussed how Bidenomics is supporting Latino entrepreneurs and how the SBA is breaking down barriers to access and growth for minority-owned small businesses.

In the afternoon, Administrator Guzman hosted a press conference to announce historic Latino small business lending data alongside Chairwoman Barragán, Representatives Soto and Frost.

The press conference was followed by a Biden-Harris Administration Latino Prosperity Tour round table featuring Orlando small business owners to highlight President Biden’s Investing in America economic agenda. Administrator Guzman, Congressman Soto, and Congressman Frost visited two additional small businesses at the end of the day.

As the Florida political tour continued to Miami, Administrator Guzman and Associate Administrator Mark Madrid joined the L ‘Attitude Conference, where they said under the Biden-Harris Administration, the Latino community has seen its fastest rate of small business creation in over a decade.

In Orlando, the group visited BuildStrong Academy to show the Administrator the trainings they offer for the next generation of construction workers. They also visited visited AITC Inc., an IT provider helping create safe, secure, effective, and reliable technology solutions for their clients. They have also expanded their services to cover Puerto Rico. They ended the day at Jiracor in Orlando, which provides the resources and training to enable effective operation, maintenance, and support of defense products.

The U.S. Small Business Administration helps power the American dream of business ownership. As the only go-to resource and voice for small businesses backed by the strength of the federal government, the SBA empowers entrepreneurs and small business owners with the resources and support they need to start, grow or expand their businesses, or recover from a declared disaster. It delivers services through an extensive network of SBA field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations.
