U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger sentenced Charles Vincent Yannaccone, of Apopka, to 12 years and 6 months years in federal prison for receipt and possession of child sexual abuse materials. The court also ordered Yannaccone to forfeit five hard drives, a cellphone, a thumb drive, a computer tower, and a computer with a SD card, which were used to commit the offenses in this case.
According to court documents, Yannaccone downloaded multiple depictions of child sexual abuse materials using a peer-to-peer file sharing platform. During the execution of a search warrant on his home, law enforcement discovered hundreds of depictions of child sexual abuse materials on Yannaccone’s electronic devices.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Courtney D. Richardson-Jones. Yannaccone had entered a guilty plea on June 28, 2023.
This is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
