Latorre has more than 20 years of local government law experience, representing multiple Central Florida municipalities and, most recently, Orange County. She has been Board Certified by the Florida Bar in City, County & Local Government Law since 2008. Latorre currently serves as a Senior Assistant County Attorney for Orange County Government, where she supervises the legal work of attorneys and paralegals in the County’s general/administrative law section, handling a variety of legal matters, including Real Estate Management, Parks and Recreation, Capital Projects, Procurement, Corrections, Youth and Family Services, Fiscal and Business Services, Office of Management and Budget, Communications, Economic Development, Public Works, and Utilities.

“Kate is an exceptional attorney with significant local government experience and strong legal acumen,” said Board Chairman Amy Lockhart. “She has provided sound counsel on various legal matters, from land use to public works and utilities, and her proficiency in general local government will be a tremendous asset for our County as she assumes this role.”

Prior to her employment with Orange County in 2014, Latorre served as a Senior Attorney with Brown, Garganese, Weiss & D’Agresta, P.A., where she advised elected and appointed local officers and city staff on a wide range of legal matters, including land use, employment law, permitting and development, general liability, annexation, code enforcement, public utilities, procurement, the Government in the Sunshine Law, Florida Public Records Act, and ethics.

Latorre holds a Juris Doctorate and Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University and is a near-lifelong resident of Seminole County. Pending contract completion, Latorre’s employment will commence later this summer.

The Office of the County Attorney provides legal services to the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners, County Administration, and County Boards and Advisory Committees.
