On Tuesday, December 6th, Orange County’s Oath of Office Ceremony will take place to swear in Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, Orange County District 2 Commissioner Christine Moore, Orange County District 4 Commissioner Maribel Gomez Cordero, and Orange County Commissioner-elect District 6 Michael “Mike” Scott.

It will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in North Concourse Room N320. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Orange TV and on the Orange County social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.

Attendees are encouraged to participate in the Mayor’s Holiday Toy Drive by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the ceremony or by purchasing a toy from the Orange County’s online shop. All donations benefit Orange County youth and family agencies.

Seven elected members serve four-year terms on the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) including the mayor who is elected at large. The mayor and commissioners serve overlapping four-year terms. The mayor and commissioners for districts 2, 4, and 6 are elected during alternate years (2010, 2014, 2018, 2022). Commissioners for districts 1, 3, and 5 are elected in presidential election years (2012, 2016, 2020, 2024).

  1. The oath of office is an important promise of service.
It’s declaration is in violation of God when the yea is more than yea. I urge the powers to remove “so help me God” as God is not pleased with that appendage.
For Jesus Christ has ordered in
Matthew 5;33¶Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:
35Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. KJV as the Blue Letter Bible
