Arts in April Events in Winter Garden

In celebration of World Art Day, the Winter Garden Art Association, in conjunction with the City of Winter Garden, will host Arts in April, a series of free events throughout the month for the community to celebrate, explore, and create art.

Multiple events will take place on Saturdays at the Winter Garden Farmers Market. Kids art sessions for ages 4-12 will be held at the Art Tent on April 9th, 16th, and 23rd, 9am to 12pm. In addition, there will be an Urban Sketchers Competition and En Plein Air Event (April 9th, 9am to 1pm), a Downtown Art Scavenger Hunt (April 30th, 11am to 2pm), as well as pop-up art-related entertainment on April 23rd during the market hours, 8am to 1pm.

Two art exhibitions representing artists of all ages will be held during the month. A Top Choice Annual Awards Show will fill the SOBO Art Gallery with the best 2D and 3D works vying for a number of awards. This exhibit will run April 5th through May 28th and can be viewed Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm. SOBO Art Gallery is located at 127 S. Boyd St. in Winter Garden. A High School Top Choice Awards Show will be on display at the Art in Public Places Gallery at Winter Garden City Hall from through April 29th, Monday to Friday during  operating hours, as well as on Saturday, April 30th, 10am to 5pm.

Additional Arts in April activities include complimentary weekly art workshops on Tuesday afternoons at SOBO Art Gallery as well live music on Fridays evenings at downtown Winter Garden’s Centennial Plaza.

The month-long Arts in April celebration concludes with a kaleidoscope of artists’ works illuminated on the front façade of City Hall, creating a visually stunning Arts in April Projection Show. The public is invited to stroll by, grab a nearby bench, or bring a chair to be captivated by the towering colorful presentation on April  30th, 8pm to 10pm.

Another finale to Arts in April is an Art Night VIP fundraiser to benefit the non-profit Winter Garden Art Association. Tickets are $75 to this immersive art experience that grants access to specially curated venues throughout downtown and includes complimentary beverages and refreshments as well as a one-year  membership to the organization. Details and tickets can be purchased here.

The month kicked off with the Chalkin’ It Up Sidewalk Art Contest on April 2nd and 3rd as part of Spring Fever in the Garden hosted by the Bloom & Grow Garden Society. Adult and children artists were set to create art with chalk in six feet by six feet squares in front of Winter Garden City Hall on Plant St.
