Governor Charlie Crist put on another pair of flip flops Wednesday evening when during an interview he said that he knew the Stimulus Package would pass, so he just agreed with it for the sake of the State.
“Unfortunately, the President thinks that everything we need to do for every problem that comes along is spend more money and that’s just wrong. Frankly, enough is enough,” said Crist.
Crist said that he never endorsed the Stimulus Plan of $787 billion.
However, while Crist is denouncing the Stimulus Plan now, it was widely reported several months ago that, Crist was one of 19 governors, four Republicans and fifteen Democrats– to send a letter in support of Obama’s Stimulus Plan. Obama subsequently called Crist personally to thank him for his support!
Moreover, so outspoken was Crist in support of the Stimulus Package it made his Republican colleagues seethe with rage. Then Florida Senator Mel Martinez at the time said on the Senate Floor that Crist didn’t get it.
Crist should also recall that he stood side by side with President Obama in Fort Myers last February, stressing how much help the Stimulus Package could be to Floridians in the midst of an economic crisis.
For whatever reason, Crist has now changed his mind regarding support for the Stimulus Plan and this might just be related to his running for the U.S. Senate race in 2010.
Has the Governor so quickly forgotten all the teachers, policemen, construction workers, among others that the stimulus monies are currently supporting.
What else has Crist forgotten? What color flip flops would it be tomorrow?
