A passenger was killed and the driver critically injured in a single-vehicle high-speed crash Thursday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers say, a passerby found a Nissan Maxima in a ditch around 5:30 a.m., off Fleming Grant Road and Wagon Master, in Brevard County.
The 38-year-old driver of the Nissan Maxima, who has not yet been named, was driving fast northbound on Fleming Grant Road and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle traveled off the road and into a ditch.
The 55-year-old male passenger, of Sebastian, who also has not been named, died at the scene.
Troopers believe that the crash happened around 4:30 a.m., although the vehicle was not spotted until more than an hour later by a passerby.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
