Denmark is making major strides in generating electricity from wind. Like the US, they too would like to reduce oil imports.
The Danes are working overtime to discern how they might capture and store wind, resulting in electricity for use when they need it.
David Brancaccio says that, in this connection, Denmark is employing a Trojan horse strategy aimed at getting batteries to store the wind power and in turn putting them into households. Those batteries will be mounted on four tires– that’s right, you guessed–electric cars.
However, in order for electric cars to become the norm over gas vehicles, they have to be able to go longer distances and they must be competitive in price.
Brancaccio writes that Denmark is attempting to resolve both these issues.
It is likely then that in a few years, Denmark would have largely Renault-Nissan electric cars. So, bye, bye imported oil.
Wake up America, are you lagging way behind?
